About this scholarship
Illinois high school seniors may enter this annual competition promoting awareness of Illinois' Safe Haven Law. Six scholarships are awarded, including $1,000 prizes for top essay and artwork submissions.
Submit either an essay (up to 500 words) on raising Safe Haven Law awareness among young people, or artwork suitable for printing on a T-shirt, along with the online application by March 1.
The Morgan Jayne Hill Memorial Scholarship honors a commitment to preventing unsafe abandonments and educating communities about legal safe surrender options for newborns.

- Deadline: March 1, 2026; award notification May 1, 2026
- Submission format: PDF file named firstname_lastname.pdf
- Must use www.saveabandonedbabies.org as the information source for research
- Essay may not mention baby boxes
- Alternative to the essay: submit original artwork (high-resolution JPG, designed for t-shirt printing or social media); artwork made with CANVA or similar programs is disqualified
- Awards: two $1,000 essay awards, two $1,000 artwork awards, one $500 essay runner-up, one $500 artwork runner-up
- Essay research must use saveabandonedbabies.org as the information source and may not mention baby boxes.
