About this scholarship

College seniors or graduates accepted into an ALA-accredited library science graduate program who intend to complete the degree within three years and work for one year after graduation in a school, public, or academic library in the Southeastern United States may apply for the Ginny Frankenthaler Memorial Scholarship. Recipients must maintain a B average. Failure to meet the service or degree timeline requires repayment with interest.

Awards are up to $2,000 and are offered on a biennial cycle. Preference may go to residents of Liberty County or southeastern Georgia.

The scholarship honors Ginny Frankenthaler, who valued public libraries as an unrestricted path to learning.
