The General Proficiency Award for Nursing

Graduating Bachelor of Science in Nursing students at Algonquin College Pembroke who have consistently demonstrated high academic achievement and who have provided efficient and conscientious clinical nursing care.

The General Proficiency Award for Nursing is a convocation honor with a variable amount. Faculty select the recipient at convocation; no application is required.

The award was established in memory of Dr. I.D. Cotnam by his wife, Mrs. Cecelia Cotnam, and his son, Dr. H.B. Cotnam. Dr. Cotnam was an active medical doctor in the city and area from 1910 until 1965 who shared his knowledge and experience with many nursing students.
