About this scholarship

Middle and high school students worldwide, ages 13 and older and enrolled during the contest period (typically grades 8 through 12), may enter the Fountainhead Essay Contest. International students are welcome; school enrollment verification is required for winners.

Seasonal rounds award up to $3,000 for first place (two winners), $2,000 for second (three winners), and $1,000 for third (three winners). Submit one original 800 to 1,600 word English essay on Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead via the official contest portal. Plagiarism, including AI use, disqualifies entries.

The contest is free to enter through the Ayn Rand Institute essay contests site.
