Medical students at the Waterloo Regional Campus of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue a career in Anesthesiology or Surgery are eligible. Preference is given to graduating students.

Established in 2021 by Dr. Robert Shenker and The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic of Waterloo in honour of Dr. Paul R. Nicholas, who trained in anaesthesia at McMaster and Memorial University and provided more than 35 years of service in anaesthesia.
