About this scholarship
Students and water-industry professionals committed to California rural water systems may apply for the CRWA Annual Scholarship Program.
Three awards are granted each year: a $3,000 college scholarship, a $2,000 college scholarship, and a $1,000 Applied Water Education class scholarship.
Complete the simple application with a personal statement describing your interest in rural water systems and professional goals. Submit by mail, fax, or email to CRWA in Sacramento by February 15.
The California Rural Water Association awards scholarships to encourage education and professional growth in rural water services.

- GPA, class rank, and ACT score if available
- List of extracurricular, church, community, civic, or volunteer activities
- Three non-relative letters of recommendation
- Wallet-size photo
- Required applicant and, for student applicants, parent/guardian signatures
- Completed application form (personal data, eligible association/utility data, high school and/or college data)
- Official transcript (high school; college transcript also required if not first year of higher education)
- GPA, class rank, and ACT score (if available)
- Attached list of all school extracurricular, church, community or civic work and/or volunteer activities
- Three letters of recommendation (none from relatives)
- Wallet-size photo for news releases
- Applicant and parent/guardian signatures (parent/guardian signature required for student applicants; adult employee applicants need only their own signature)
- Eligibility: high school graduate or undergraduate connected to an employee with 2+ years at a CRWA member water/wastewater utility, or such an employee, or child of CRWA Board Members/Staff; utility
- Application must be postmarked no later than July 31, 2026
- Personal statement describing interest in rural water systems and professional goals.
