About this scholarship
Illinois residents who are blind or visually impaired and enrolled in post-secondary programs, including certifications and associate's through doctoral degrees, may apply for the Chicago Lighthouse Lader Family Scholarship. Chicago Lighthouse employees who are blind, visually impaired, have another disability, or are veterans may also apply.
Awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 for tuition, books, assistive technology, and related educational expenses. Applicants need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
Submit a personal essay, financial statement of need, eye report form, two recommendations, and official transcripts. Recipients must attend the annual scholarship ceremony to receive funds.
The Lader Family Scholarship Program has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since 2004.
