About this scholarship
High school seniors in the United States whose biological parent is currently incarcerated may apply for the Annual Venus Morris Griffin Scholarship Fund. Adopted and foster care students meeting all terms are encouraged to apply.
One recipient receives a one-time $10,000 award for tuition, paid directly to the college or trade school.
Submit one personal letter explaining how parental incarceration has impacted your life, plus proof of acceptance into a higher learning institution or trades program.
Funding comes from Venus Morris Griffin's speaking engagements and donations. Recipients are chosen by Venus Morris Griffin and her children.

- One personal letter addressed to Venus Morris Griffin and her children addressing the parent’s incarceration, its impact, overcoming adversity, the scholarship’s impact, and intended positive use of the experience.
- Proof of acceptance into the higher-learning institution or trades program.
- Invoice issued by the institution.
- Current high school senior enrolled in a U.S. school
- At least one biological parent who is currently incarcerated
- Accepted into an accredited college, university, or trades/technical program beginning within one year of high school graduation
- Must show proof of acceptance and provide an invoice issued by the institution
- Only one letter per student/household will be reviewed
- Scholarship funds ($10,000) cover tuition only, paid directly to the institution
