The Akua Benjamin Award

Toronto Metropolitan University students who self-identify as Black (including Afro-Caribbean or African-Canadian), have clear academic standing and financial need, and demonstrate community involvement advancing Black communities may receive The Akua Benjamin Award. The award is university-wide and renewable.

The award is valued at $4,000. Apply via AwardSpring.

Akua Benjamin has led community groups advocating against racist and discriminatory structures, including the Black Action Defense Committee, the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, the Congress of Black Women, and the Organization of Parents of Black Children.
