About this scholarship
Student-athletes living with type 1 diabetes who are enrolled at an accredited NCAA or NAIA college or university, compete in a school-sanctioned sport, and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA may apply. Applicants should show a commitment to using sport to inspire others with diabetes.
Awards are up to $10,000 and renewable for up to four years. Recipients join the Team Type 1 Global Ambassador Program.
Apply with proof of enrollment and documentation of a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, and attend online Global Ambassador training if selected.

- Latest HbA1c result with units
- Information on other financial support and household gross annual income
- Eligibility: applicant has type 1 diabetes, maintains a GPA of 3.0 or better, attends/will attend an accredited NCAA/NAIA institution and competes in an NCAA/NAIA sanctioned sport

- Submit two written references relating to your sport (e.g., from a coach, manager or professor)
- Application, photo, and references e-mailed by PDF attachment to scholarship@teamtype1.org
- Submission deadline March 31st (applications accepted starting January 1st; winners announced in June)
- Report latest HbA1c (with units), other financial support received, and household gross annual income
- Applicants should demonstrate commitment to using sport to inspire others with diabetes.
- Selected recipients must attend online Global Ambassador training.
- Renewal is available for up to four years.
