The bursary was established by family and friends of Tara Lynne Touesnard, a third-year Bachelor of Music Education student who died in an automobile accident in 1994. She was a composer and recording artist, a four-time Maritime Old Time Fiddling Champion, and a recipient of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award.
