Steve Withers Scholarship in Biological Chemistry

Outstanding UBC Vancouver graduate students studying biological chemistry may be considered.

Variable scholarships are funded through an endowment established by friends, family, students, and colleagues in honor of Dr. Steve Withers.

Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Department of Chemistry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Dr. Withers joined UBC Chemistry in 1982 and became a world expert on enzymatic glycoside formation and hydrolysis. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London and trained many graduate students in chemical biology before retiring in 2023.
