About this scholarship

African American residents of Philadelphia County with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.2, household income under $50,000, and acceptance to an accredited college, university, or trade school may apply. High school seniors and undergraduates are eligible. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Five recipients each receive $2,500.

Submit a signed application, transcript, a list of community activities, awards, or jobs from the last two years, at least three recommendation letters, and an essay on a significant effort by Rev. Leon H. Sullivan and how it might apply today. All materials must arrive together by mail or email by the spring deadline.

The program highlights Sullivan's self-help philosophy and aims to assist students who have recognized their potential for excellence.
