About this scholarship
Public high school seniors in Hampshire or Hampden County, Massachusetts, who have been active in social justice work and plan to attend college or postsecondary training may apply.
Scholarships of up to $1,500 are awarded, with up to six recipients selected each year. The Sojourner Truth Memorial Committee honors students who carry forward a commitment to social justice and equality.
Submit a typed, double-spaced essay of 800 to 1,200 words describing your social justice experiences in school or community and how your work connects to the life and legacy of Sojourner Truth. An optional short digital media supplement may be included. Recipients are invited to present at the annual Memorial Day weekend celebration in Florence, Massachusetts.

- Essay must address: (1) your social justice project(s), leadership/involvement, motivation, what you did and accomplished; (2) how your project addresses broad social justice goals (economic inequalit

- Optional supplemental material: brief digital, graphic, or other art forms (not exceeding 2 minutes)
- Award: six $1,500 scholarships annually
