About this scholarship

Open to JD students at Osgoode Hall Law School who are Afro-Indigenous, Indigenous, and/or Black. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated work or voluntary experience supporting Afro-Indigenous, Indigenous, and/or Black communities.

Applicants submit a one-page critical reflection statement outlining how they intend to use their legal education to help create the legal system they desire. By applying, students consent to have that statement shared with the donors. The award amount varies.

Njeri Damali Sojourner-Campbell (Osgoode JD, M.Ed, 2014) practices labour, employment, and human rights law and founded UJIMA Mentorship Circle for Black femme law students and legal professionals. Her wife, Tomee Elizabeth Sojourner-Campbell, attended Osgoode's LLM research program with a concentration in human rights and consumer racial profiling. At their 2017 wedding reception at Osgoode, the couple committed to supporting equitable learning for marginalized law students.
