About this scholarship

Open to individuals who, on April 1, 2026, hold a SSHRC-funded doctoral scholarship or postdoctoral award (including Canada Graduate Scholarships, Vanier, Banting, and related SSHRC training awards). Nominees must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons, affiliated with an eligible institution, and cannot self-nominate.

The Talent Award is $50,000. Recipients use the funds within one year as a fellowship or grant to further their research or knowledge-mobilization work, with at least 10% used to promote the research being honoured.

Eligible institutions nominate candidates. Large institutions may submit one nomination per Impact Award category per year.
