About this scholarship
U.S. citizens pursuing a STEM degree in an approved SMART discipline at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, with willingness to complete DoD summer internships and accept post-graduation civilian DoD employment, may apply. Graduate students and incoming freshmen not yet enrolled may still apply if they will be enrolled by the program start date. A minimum 3.0 GPA is expected.
The award covers full tuition plus an annual stipend ($30,000 to $46,000), with health and book allowances. SMART supports students with college credit; the Dellums SMART Scholarship is for students with no prior college credit.
Submit a complete online application through the SMART Scholarship portal during the open window, with transcripts, proof of citizenship, and other required materials.
