About this scholarship

U.S. citizens and eligible allied nationals pursuing bachelor's, master's, or doctoral STEM degrees at accredited U.S. colleges with a 3.0 or higher GPA may apply for the DoD SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program.

The program covers full tuition plus annual stipends ranging from $30,000 to $46,000, summer internships at Department of Defense facilities, and civilian DoD employment after graduation.

Applications open August 1 and close at 5:00 p.m. EST on the first Friday in December each year. Apply through smartscholarship.org.
