About this scholarship
J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law on UBC's Vancouver campus who have demonstrated academic excellence in a course in Animal Law are eligible for these prizes. Prizes totalling $1,250 are available annually, but only in years when a named course on Animal Law is offered. There is no student application; recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law. The prizes were made available through a gift from the Koshul family in memory of Sharon Koshul (1940-2018). Compassion and caring for animals were essential parts of her life, and she saw advancement in animal law as the most effective way to advocate for and protect animals.
