Shannon Burwash Award for Leadership and Excellence in Equine, Agri-Business and/or Agricultural Studies

Canadian citizens or permanent residents in their third year or later at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution may apply if studying agriculture, agri-business, animal health technology, or veterinary medicine that can be applied to horses or the horse industry. Preference goes to students with a rural background and/or extensive horse-industry participation who plan an equine-oriented career, and who demonstrate leadership. Financial need may be considered.

Two or more awards of $5,000 are applied directly to tuition. Applicants must provide two letters of reference. Students in first or second year should apply instead for the Shannon Burwash Award for Encouragement in Equine & Agricultural Studies.

The award honours Shannon Burwash's involvement in the Quarter Horse industry in Alberta and Canada, and aims to prepare horse-oriented students for leadership in the equine field.
