About this scholarship

Fort Bend County, Texas residents who are high school juniors or seniors planning full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. college or university may apply. Applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA at application and throughout college, and must show a commitment to community service.

The program awards 10 scholarships annually (five merit-based and five means-based), each up to $5,000 per year and renewable for up to four years (total value up to $20,000). Selection weighs academic achievement, leadership, community service, and financial need where applicable.

Apply through the SDEF scholarship portal with a high school transcript, parents' most recent federal tax return (including W-2 or 1099 forms), and two letters of recommendation. Means-based applicants also submit a completed FAFSA and Student Aid Report.
