About this scholarship
Open to children, grandchildren (including step and foster), or legal wards of current or retired NUPGE Component union members or Component affiliates who identify as Indigenous (First Nations Status or Non-Status, Métis, or Inuit) and are entering first year at a Canadian public post-secondary institution on a full-time or part-time basis.
The award is $2,500. Applicants submit an original 750-to-1,000-word essay on the importance of public services in enhancing the quality of life of Indigenous students.

- Original 750-to-1,000-word essay on the importance of public services in enhancing the quality of life of Indigenous students
- Indigenous identity proof: documentation or a self-declaration statement of at least 200 words about lived experiences and relationship to a legally recognized Indigenous community
- Essay must be 750 to 1,000 words, submitted in PDF format with the applicant's name and scholarship name at the top (not counted toward the word limit).
- Marks are allocated for content, presentation, and adherence to the topic.

- Applicant must be a child/grandchild (incl. foster) or legal ward of a current or retired member of a NUPGE Component or a Component's affiliate.
- Must be entering 1st year of a public post-secondary institution in Canada (full-time or part-time).
