About this scholarship

Female graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.3 unweighted GPA who plan to enroll at an accredited U.S. college or university may apply if they demonstrate financial need, excellent character, and active involvement in golf (playing skill is not required).

At least 12 scholarships of $2,500 are awarded annually. The grant is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study, for a total of up to $10,000 per recipient.

Submit the application form, official transcript, personal essay, Student Aid Report from FAFSA, and one letter of recommendation, all postmarked by the deadline.

The Sara Scholarship was established in 2012 through the will of Sara Sheehan, a lifelong golfer who passed away in 2011.

  • Eligibility: female high school senior, cumulative unweighted GPA >= 3.3, demonstrated financial need, some involvement with the sport of golf, plan to enroll at an accredited U.S. college/university
  • Short-answer questions throughout the form (Section IV career goals; Section V employment, extracurriculars, honors, golf involvement, financing college) — no word limits stated
  • Application is paper-only, mailed in one envelope, postmarked on or before April 30, 2026
