About this scholarship
High school seniors graduating from a high school or homeschool program in one of the nine counties served by San Patricio Electric Cooperative (SPEC) may apply if a parent or legal guardian is an active SPEC member.
The cooperative awards $10,000 scholarships, with 10 recipients selected annually. Applicants must demonstrate good character with at least three letters of recommendation and provide an official transcript.
The San Patricio Electric Education Trust, established in 1999, supports local students pursuing higher education as part of the co-op's commitment to the communities it serves.

- At least three letters of recommendation from teachers, principals, counselors, or similar references
- Parent/legal guardian must be an active San Patricio Electric Cooperative member receiving electric service at the student's and guardian's primary residence
- Applicant must be a high school senior graduating from a school within one of SPEC's nine service counties (Aransas, Bee, Goliad, Jim Wells, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio) or compl
- Official high school transcript required
- At least three (3) letters of recommendation from teachers, principals, counselors, etc.
- Application must be received no later than April 1st
- Recipients must enroll/maintain full-time status (min 12 semester hours) and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Recipients must enroll and maintain full-time status of at least 12 semester hours and a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
