About this scholarship

Outstanding Master of Applied Science students at the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at UBC Vancouver may be considered for the Samit and Reshma Sharma Graduate Scholarship in Mining Engineering. Preference goes to students with interest and expertise in the environmental impacts of mining and/or corporate social responsibility.

Scholarships totalling $3,500 are available through an endowment established by the Samit and Reshma Sharma Foundation.

Awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Applied Science, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Samit and Reshma established the endowment to recognize mining's historical and economic importance in British Columbia and to promote research and practice that mitigate the industry's environmental impact.
