About this scholarship
California residents currently enrolled at a community college and planning to transfer to a four-year college or university may apply for the Roshan Rahbari Scholarship Fund. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, demonstrated financial need through FAFSA or Dream Act, and a record of service to school or community.
Awards of up to $5,000 are paid over two years with renewal. Selection also considers character qualities such as integrity, compassion, and generosity.
Established in memory of Roshan Rahbari, a West Valley Community College student and Leland High School graduate, the fund supports outstanding transfer students completing bachelor's degrees.

- One signed and dated reference letter addressing voluntary community service
- Official college transcript
- Current-year Student Aid Report including FAFSA summary and EFC, or institutional financial-aid award letter
- Signed and dated personal statement of 500 to 850 words
- Completed application form (each section must be completed; additional sheets must follow the application format)
- One letter of reference (from a teacher, academic advisor, volunteer, work supervisor, or youth leader; must reference voluntary community service; signed and dated)
- Official college transcript (no photocopies or internet-generated transcripts)
- Evidence of financial need: copy of all pages of current-year Student Aid Report (SAR) including FAFSA summary and EFC, OR a Financial Aid Award Letter from the institution
- Personal statement must be signed and dated
