About this scholarship

Central Coast high school seniors or students enrolled at Allan Hancock Community College or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo who plan to major in viticulture or enology at one of those schools may apply.

One annual award provides up to $1,000 for Cal Poly students or a smaller award for Allan Hancock students.

Apply through the CAWG Foundation by February 27 with online application, transcript, 500-word essay, and letter of recommendation. The scholarship honors Robert Miller, a leader in establishing the Central Coast as a premier winegrowing region.

  • Be a Central Coast high school senior or a student enrolled at Allan Hancock Community College or Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
  • Plan to major or be majoring in viticulture or enology at Allan Hancock Community College or Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
  • Complete the application form (student info, work/community involvement, financial need section)
  • Attach official high school transcript and/or most current class enrollment and transcript forms
  • Provide a signed letter of recommendation from an instructor, principal, counselor, or administrator (with address, phone, and position)
  • Optional: attach SAT/ACT results if applying for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (not required)
  • Submit a 500-word essay addressing financial need, career goals, and community plans.
  • Optional SAT/ACT results may be submitted by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo applicants.
