About this scholarship

Residents of a Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) member municipality (municipal districts, counties, specialized municipalities, and the Special Areas; generally not incorporated villages, towns, or cities) who are registered in their first four years of study at a recognized post-secondary institution, with no previous degree or diploma, may apply for the RMA Post-Secondary Scholarship Program. Preference goes to study in Alberta when the program is available there. Applicants should be pursuing studies relevant to local government or rural communities and explain that relevance in their letter.

Six scholarships of $1,500 are awarded. Apply with the RMA application form, a CAO residency letter, a letter on goals and program relevance, transcripts, proof of acceptance or enrollment, and a brief resume covering work, community, volunteer, and related activities. Selection considers citizenship and community involvement, the application letter, and academic performance.
