About this scholarship

Full-time graduate students (MSc or PhD), postdoctoral fellows, and medical residents at a Canadian institution may apply if their research focuses on the fundamental neural and biological mechanisms underlying mental health conditions. Eligible areas include substance use disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and schizophrenia. All else equal, priority goes to trainees who do not already hold other major stipend awards (such as CIHR or FRQS).

Up to two non-renewable awards of $10,000 for one year are available. Apply through Brain Canada's Rising Stars Trainee Awards.

Brain Canada, with support from Naomi Azrieli O.C. and the Canada Brain Research Fund, presents the award in memory of Vivian Distler.
