About this scholarship
Open to University of Toronto St. George undergraduates for the most outstanding critical anthropology essay written in an Anthropology or Archaeology course in the current academic year. One award of up to about $550 is given.
Professors nominate one essay per course with a supporting letter. Department deadlines are typically early January for F courses and late May for Y/S courses.
Essay question
What else to submit
- An ungraded copy of the eligible essay.
- A supporting letter or email from the course professor describing the course context and assignment instructions and stating whether the essay reflects independent library research and/or original empirical research.
- Must be a University of Toronto St. George (downtown) campus student
- Submit an ungraded copy of an essay written in a St. George Anthropology or Archaeology course during the 2025-26 academic year (any sub-field)
- Include a letter/email from the course professor describing the course context and assignment instructions, and noting whether the essay reflects independent library research and/or original empirical
- Deadline: Friday, January 9, 2026 for F courses; Friday, May 22, 2026 for Y and S courses
