About this scholarship
Young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who meet Rhodes eligibility and seek postgraduate study at the University of Oxford may pursue the Rhodes Scholarship. Two scholarships are allocated to Ontario. Current University of Waterloo students must obtain institutional certification from Waterloo before completing the national Rhodes application.
The scholarship covers University of Oxford course fees and provides an annual stipend for postgraduate study, subject to the Rhodes Conditions of Tenure.
Applicants seeking Waterloo certification submit materials to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, including a CV (maximum two pages), a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words, an academic statement of study of no more than 450 words, and a list of six referees (at least three academic and two or more character), with reference letters sent directly by referees. Certified applicants then apply through the Rhodes portal and must also gain admission to Oxford separately.
