About this scholarship

Dependent children (under age 26) of PSAC members in good standing as of March 31, 2026 who will attend full-time studies at a recognized post-secondary institution in fall 2026. Prior winners of a PSAC scholarship through this program are not eligible again. Not limited to first-year students.

Seven regional scholarships of $1,000 each (one per PSAC region: Atlantic, Quebec, National Capital Region, Ontario, Prairies, British Columbia, and the North).

Apply online by June 22, 2026 at 11:55 p.m. ET with a 750 to 850-word essay or an original creative submission (video, infographic, song, or similar, max five minutes) answering the 2026 scholarship questions. Cite sources and acknowledge any AI assistance.

What else to submit

  • Submit either an original 750–850 word essay or an original creative submission (video, infographic, song, or similar) of no more than five minutes.
  • Cite all sources consulted and acknowledge any AI assistance; plagiarism is disqualifying.
  • Provide PSAC ID number and Component/Directly Chartered Local when applying.
  • Applicants respond to ONE of the two questions based on eligibility: PSAC members answer Question 1; children of members answer Question 2. Clearly indicate which question is being answered.
  • Option 1: an original 750-850 word essay in Word format, with full name and page numbers as header/footer on every page. References do NOT count toward the 750-850 words.
  • Option 2 (alternative to essay): an original video, infographic, audio recording of a song, or other creative original submission answering the question, maximum 5 minutes; videos/audio require a tran
  • File name format: Lastname, Firstname_-_submissiontype (essay, video, infographic, or audio).
  • Must be a PSAC member in good standing, or the dependent child (under 26) of a PSAC member in good standing as of March 31; attending full-time post-secondary studies in the fall.
  • All sources consulted must be cited; failure to cite references leads to an unsuccessful application; plagiarism leads to disqualification.
  • AI tools permitted only as a learning/revision/editing aid — the initial draft must be entirely the applicant's original work, and any AI-introduced ideas/content must be cited as AI-generated.
  • Apply via the online portal; email/fax/printed copies not accepted unless the applicant cannot use the portal. Requires PSAC ID number and Component/Directly Chartered Local.
  • Judged on depth of research, originality of expression, and quality of argument.
  • Answer the applicable 2026 scholarship question and clearly indicate which question is being answered.
  • Applications must be submitted through the online portal; email, fax, and print submissions are generally not accepted.
  • Submissions are judged on research depth, originality, and quality of argument.
