About this scholarship

High school seniors who are residents of Placer, El Dorado, or Nevada County, California may submit an original essay of 500 words or less on American River canyon conservation. Students may attend school in another county.

Scholarship amounts vary by year, with awards up to $600 per winner from a pooled fund.

Include a completed entry form from the PARC website with your typed essay, submitted by mail or email.

Protect American River Canyons (PARC) sponsors this contest to engage students on conservation of the North and Middle Fork American River canyons.

  • Completed PARC entry form
  • Original typed essay of 500 words or fewer, or an original MP4 video of no more than 3 minutes
  • Eligibility: graduating high school seniors who are residents of Placer, Nevada, or El Dorado County (may attend school in another county)
  • Essay must be typed and original, 500 words maximum
  • A completed PARC entry form must accompany the essay (form available on PARC website)

  • An original video (mp4, max 3 minutes) may be submitted as an alternative to the written essay
  • Submit by email or mail to PARC.
  • Students may attend school in a county other than their county of residence.
