About this scholarship
Open to UBC Vancouver graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding performance in a course in Middle English or English Renaissance language and/or literature.
Prizes totalling $6,350 are funded through the Mahmoud Aly Manzalaoui endowment. The per-recipient amount varies. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Arts in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
Professor Manzalaoui (1924-2015) was a scholar and teacher at UBC known for lively readings of Chaucer and other medieval topics.
