Philip A. Jones Fellowship

Graduate students at UBC Vancouver pursuing research in entomology or botany as it relates to agriculture are eligible for these fellowships. Fellowships totalling $24,750 are distributed among recipients; individual award amounts vary. There is no student application; the awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The fellowships were established through an endowment funded by a bequest from the Estate of Dr. Philip A. Jones (1924-2015), who graduated from UBC in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, earned a PhD in Entomology from the University of Wisconsin, and worked as a scientist for Environment Canada until his retirement in 1993.
