About this scholarship
J.D. and LL.M. candidates at accredited New York law schools, Rutgers University Law School, Seton Hall Law School, and up to ten other accredited U.S. law schools selected on a rotating basis by the committee. For students committed to a practice concentrating in entertainment, art, or sports law.
Up to two awards of $2,500 each. Winning papers are published in the EASL Journal. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the winner's law school.
Submit an original paper of 12 to 15 pages (including Bluebook footnotes), double-spaced in Microsoft Word, on any current legal issue in entertainment, art, or sports law. Papers longer than 15 pages are not considered. Papers previously written for school assignments or published in law journals are eligible. Email submissions to Sharmin Woodall at swoodall@nysba.org with the subject line "EASL Writing Competition."
Named after two former Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section chairs of the New York State Bar Association.
