Peter Wanyenya Memorial Graduate Award

UBC Vancouver graduate students in the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice whose research focuses on African refugees, African-Canadian/Black Canadian studies, Indigeneity and Africanity, African migrants, or asylum seeker resettlement may be considered for this award, with preference for students who have demonstrated community engagement, mentorship, or advocacy within African-Canadian/Black Canadian youth communities.

Awards totalling $2,000 are funded through an endowment established by the Faculty of Arts, with per-recipient amounts varying.

Recipients are recommended by the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.
