About this scholarship
The National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Association awards the Pelagie "Mike" C. Snesrud Nursing Student Scholarship each year in honor of the late Captain Snesrud, a public health nurse and former NANAINA president. Two scholarships of $750 each are awarded, one to an American Indian or Alaska Native undergraduate nursing student and one to a graduate nursing student; recipients also receive a waived registration fee and banquet ticket for the annual NANAINA conference, where winners are announced.
Applicants complete the application form from the NANAINA website and email it with supporting documents, including a personal statement and proof of nursing program enrollment, to the association.
The 2026 deadline was May 25, 2026 (extended to June 30), and the scholarship is awarded annually.
