Coast Mountain College (CMTN) students enrolled in the University Credit program or associated degrees (including Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate of Nursing, Applied Coastal Ecology, Early Childhood Care and Education, and Social Service Worker) may be nominated for this award. Nominees should be engaged in community or international work empowering under-represented groups, such as literacy, women's issues, human rights, student advocacy, labor, First Nations, poverty, or multiculturalism work.

The award totals $2,000: a $1,000 cheque from the AWU and a $1,000 tuition credit at CMTN for intersession courses or second-year studies in a CMTN academic program.
