About this scholarship

Full-time undergraduate students in the Nevada System of Higher Education enrolled in a NASA-aligned STEM program with a faculty mentor may apply for independent research funding.

Awards of $3,000 support either a 10-week summer research project or a full academic-year project aligned with NASA Mission Directorate priorities. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and financial-aid eligibility throughout the scholarship period.

Submit an application indicating your preferred scholarship period by March 6. Selected students present their projects at a statewide Nevada Space Grant and NASA EPSCoR meeting.

  • Biographical Sketch or CV (2 pages max) from BOTH the student and the faculty mentor
  • At least one Recommendation Letter from the supervising faculty mentor (on letterhead or from official email, affirming proposal originality and intent to support)
  • All materials combined into a single PDF and submitted online
  • Research proposal must align with a NASA Mission Directorate priority and follow formatting: single-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-pt Times New Roman
  • Eligibility: full-time enrollment at an NSHE institution, NASA-aligned STEM degree, good academic standing, financial-aid eligible, supervised by an NSHE faculty mentor
  • Research proposal must align with a NASA Mission Directorate priority.
  • Project materials must be combined into a single PDF and submitted online.
  • Selected students present projects at a statewide Nevada Space Grant and NASA EPSCoR meeting.
