Northern Scientific Training Program Grant

For Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolled in a degree program at a recognized Canadian university who are conducting thesis-based northern research in any discipline. Supported fieldwork lies north of the southern limit of discontinuous permafrost (with defined additions in Yukon and Labrador) and may include the other Arctic countries.

Supplementary funding of up to $6,000 per year for more than 350 students, meant to offset northern research costs such as transportation, living expenses, and freight, not as primary research support. Apply through your university's Northern Studies Committee, not directly to POLAR.
