About this scholarship

Latino students who are New Mexico residents enrolled full time in behavioral health degree programs at the junior, senior, master's, or doctoral level may apply. Eligible fields include social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatry, and substance abuse or mental health programs. Awards of $1,000 are available.

Recipients commit to working in New Mexico behavioral health for two years after graduation and provide 20 volunteer hours per $1,000 awarded to NLBHA. Submit an application, three recommendations, and essays by April 30.

The Josie Torralba Romero Scholarship honors a founder of the National Latino Behavioral Health Association and supports the state's behavioral health workforce.
