About this scholarship
Undergraduate medical students and surgical residents at UBC may compete by submitting a publishable-grade paper on a topic of historical surgical interest for oral presentation at the annual Dr. Nis Schmidt Surgical update in December or at the Surgical History Club.
Prize amounts vary. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Surgery. Papers may address local, national, or international topics in any field of surgery, including biographical, developmental, clinical, technical, educational, and ethical subjects.
