Eligibility
About this scholarship
Undergraduate sophomores through seniors and master's students at accredited U.S. universities may apply for need-based WAAIME scholarships in eligible earth science or engineering majors such as mining, geology, metallurgy, or petroleum engineering. PhD candidates are ineligible.
Award amounts vary by financial need. Students may receive up to three WAAIME scholarships over their lifetime. A separate Rebecca Bweupe-Siwale Memorial Scholarship may supplement selected WAAIME recipients.
Online applications open January 1 and close January 25. Required materials include transcripts, resume, FERPA form, financial information, two references, and a personal essay on extractive-industry career goals.
WAAIME is a division of SME within AIME and funds scholarships for students pursuing extractive industries careers.
