About this scholarship

Black LGBTQ+ law students enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school (or incoming 1Ls who have applied to at least one) may apply. Applicants may also apply for the Bar's general law school scholarships in the same year.

One or more recipients receive $2,500 upon proof of registration for the upcoming school year.

Applications are due April 1 each year by midnight Eastern Time. The 2026 cycle was closed when checked in July 2026.

The scholarship honors Tyron Garner, whose Lawrence v. Texas case decriminalized consensual same-sex relationships.
