Texas AFL-CIO Career-Building Scholarship

Affiliated union members returning to college, university, or trade school to advance their careers may apply. The applicant's union must be affiliated with both the Texas AFL-CIO and a Central Labor Council or other local body with jurisdiction over the member's residence or workplace.

Each award is a one-time $1,500 grant paid directly to the student's institution for tuition, fees, or other direct educational expenses.

Applications are due May 1 annually and reviewed by the scholarship committee in June. The 2026 application period has ended.

The Texas AFL-CIO Education Department administers career-building scholarships alongside high school and continuing education awards for union members.
