Sons of Norway Foundation Scholarships

Students with Norwegian heritage may apply through a single portal to one of seventeen Sons of Norway Foundation funds supporting U.S., Canadian, and Norway-based study. Some funds require membership; others are open to non-members per the eligibility quiz.

The foundation distributed about $148,000 in student scholarships in 2025 across domestic vocational, undergraduate, graduate, folk-high-school, and Norway study-abroad awards, typically $1,000 to $4,000 or more per fund.

Applications open October 1 annually and are due January 15 through the online grants portal. Materials include essays on Norwegian heritage connection and two recommendation contacts.
