Slater-Millner Scholars Fund

BIPOC rising college sophomores on a pre-medical track toward allopathic or osteopathic medicine may apply through UNCF. Applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA (some listings cite 2.8), demonstrated unmet financial need via FAFSA (DACA students exempt), and interest in serving underserved communities.

Sophomore awards start at $2,500 and may renew up to $5,000 junior year and $7,500 senior year. Recipients also join the Ascension Medical Educators Aspiring Physicians mentoring program.

UNCF administers an annual summer application cycle historically closing in mid-July; third-party trackers expected a May-July 2026 window. The UNCF portal required login at verification time.

Dr. Nancy Slater and Dr. Alan Millner partnered with UNCF to fund pre-med students facing barriers to medical school admission.
