SEER Law Student Writing Competition

U.S. legal residents enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school during the competition academic year may enter one of five topic categories: Air/Climate/ESG; Biodiversity/Water; Energy/Resource Recovery; Forest Resources/Public Land/Mining; or Indigenous Law.

Each category winner receives a $1,000 cash prize.

Entries are due May 31 each year. The 2026 competition rules were published and winners are announced by July 31.

The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources sponsors this recurring program to encourage environmental and natural resources scholarship.
