About this scholarship
Second- or third-year law students at New York law schools may be nominated for this award honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's legacy in advancing women's rights and gender equality. Nominees demonstrate character and work consistent with Ginsburg's commitment to legal reform and the public good.
The selected student receives a $5,000 scholarship presented at NYSBA's May meeting. Past recipients include students from Cardozo, Hofstra, and other New York law schools.
Nomination forms and supporting materials are submitted by email per the published PDF form; the 2026 nomination deadline was April 14, 2026. Requirements include a cover letter, resume, transcript, two recommendations, and a two-page essay.
NYSBA established this scholarship in 2020 through its Women in Law Section and Committee on Civil Rights.
